We believe in educating our community on how to prevent emergencies and how to handle emergency situations. We also believe in providing our employees with an opportunity to advance their skills and complete their necessary state and company certifications. Accredited by the State of Medstar Ambulance Education CenterMichigan's Department of Consumer and Industry Services in 1999, Medstar Medical Education Center offers programs, training and certification courses geared both towards our employees and the community.

Our accreditation demonstrates the commitment we have to providing the highest quality education program. The investment in our employees begins on the first day with a week orientation class that introduces Medstar and our procedures. In addition, employees participate in a mandatory Staff Development program, a newly developed curriculum which allows them to obtain necessary certifications and training within state and company guidelines.

Our Medical Education Center, which trains individuals to become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or a paramedic, graduates approximately one Paramedic class and three E.M.T. classes each year. Approximately, 75 percent of the graduates that have been certified through our E.M.S. school become employees of Medstar.

Recognized as a leading Community Training Center for the American Heart Association, Medstar Medical Educational Center offers C.P.R. and First Aid training to the community. Two of our staff members have been classified as team leaders for the American Heart Association's National C.P.R. Day. In addition, we offer paramedics and other health professionals a "hands-on" program for ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
